“The production is beautiful with ample art, quality pages and construction and a ribbon for keeping your current page. The art is excellent, if grim, throughout. It is easy to justify this book for the well-illustrated and extensive bestiary alone.”

“This is a well put-together product which will be most useful to two groups: players and DM who are all on board with blowing up their current campaign and letting the players try to put some pieces back together from the resulting horror, or the DM who is looking for a variety of otherworldly evil to leverage into other adventures  with a bonus use of miniatures if available from the board game.”

“Overall, I find Cthulhu Wars an exciting tactical game that will appeal to a wide range of players. For players who want a solid war game with fun dice-rolling combat, epic-looking battles, and abilities, this is perfect. It doesn’t have too many rules to get playing and the different faction’s abilities will shock and entertain you. I’ve even played with players who aren’t so into wargaming and they’ve enjoyed themselves. I think partly due to the presence of the miniatures and board.”

“It also has appeal to those players who want repeat plays of an interesting war game where new strategies are often discovered. This game always leaves you at the end of the play thinking about all the things you could have done differently to have played better, or how you could have stopped a particularly good strategy an opponent used to win the game.”

Board Game Quest Review: Planet Apocalypse for 5e Fantasy

“I must admit that I was very impressed how Planet Apocalypse Sourcebook for 5e outlines how to bring this campaign into your existing gaming world. The depth and quality of the lore and how the focus is to adapt and customize to current campaigns is intentional and I’m sure most GMs will appreciate.”

“PCs should also like that they are given a weapon, The Sanguine Ward, to battle against the fiendish invasion. There’s a ton of variety that GMs can use to customize as much or little as they see fit but the fact that you’re given so many options is the true success of this 5e sourcebook.”

“Overall, this supplement is well-produced and filled with amazing artwork that is mostly shockingly inhuman and uncomfortable to behold.”

“Planet Apocalypse ticks so many boxes for me, that I’d wager to say, it is the currently the best board game I have ever played for several reasons. It has the best ratio of joy vs. playtime for me and a fantastic ratio of luck vs. strategy. Games like Twilight Imperium are fantastic, but I can play it a few times a year at best, since it needs other players to shine. Due to its nature, I can play Planet Apocalypse with friends or solo, whenever I want.”

“To me PA’s best feature is that you cannot just learn „the strategy“ to win the game. Since every basic outline will be totally different, you always have to adapt your strategy. In one scenario your characters want to get as tough as possible, in others this approach will lose you the game. Some characters and gifts seem to be useless in some scenarios, but are game winners in others. This is just fantastic game design!”
