New Collector’s Illustrated Novella:The Call of Cthulhu

November 13th marks 40 years since Sandy developed and helped release the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game.

To celebrate this milestone, Petersen Games has released a special edition paperback of H.P. Lovecraft’s novella “The Call of Cthulhu,” the story that launched hundreds of works across multiple platforms including Roleplaying Games, Board Games, video Games, and horror fiction.

Sandy has filled this timeless story with the best art from his popular Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos (for 5e and Pathfinder).

He has also included 5e statistics for two of the characters in the story, Old Castro and the Esquimaux Shaman.

This publication is only available on Amazon. During the month of October, we have priced it at 30% off the MSRP!

Announcing Call of Cthulhu Terror Paths

Game designer Sandy Petersen returns again to Lovecraftian gaming with a new board game: Call of Cthulhu Terror Paths

Forty years ago Sandy’s roleplaying game Call of Cthulhu was published by Chaosium. It changed the world of gaming and also made the then-obscure writer Lovecraft and his creations (such as Cthulhu) both cultural phenomenan.

Now Sandy is back with a new board game inspired by the Call of Cthulhu RPG, and produced under license from Chaosium Inc.

“It’s terrific to re-activate my old connections with Chaosium and work closely with them once more. I look forward to introducing new players to the horror of Lovecraft’s tales with a fast and easy-to-play board game. Terror Paths also has the depth and detail to fascinate even the most experienced gamer. It provides an authentic and unique Call of Cthulhu experience. The game design is done, and I consider Call of Cthulhu Terror Paths to be my personal contribution to the 40th anniversary of Call of Cthulhu!”

Expected release will be in 2022.

More information about Call of Cthulhu Terror Paths can be found here:

Additional details will be released in the coming weeks as we complete the art, layout, and production!

Announcing SPCM: Brown Jenkin!

Announcing Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos – Brown Jenkin Edition

In team meetings earlier this year, some of our RPG fans expressed an interest in creating a pocket edition of SPCM for 5e. It would be more portable, less expensive, and easier to reference quickly. It also makes a great gift!

Anouncing Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for 5e: Brown Jenkin Edition!

This miniature soft-bound version has been submitted to the printer and is expected to arrive hopefully on time for the holidays.

Big disclaimer: the Shipping Apocalypse is still underway and pretty much all of our projects have been delayed because of the worldwide shipping bottlenecks in major ports everywhere. But we are hoping!

Who is Brown Jenkin anyway? Brown Jenkin appears in Lovecraft’s story Dreams in the Witch House, and it is an extremely unusual entity.  It is an old fashioned type of horror – a small rat-like monster with humanoid face and paws. More like the image of a medieval witch’s familiar than a tentacled Lovecraftian thingy! See if you can find him on the cover of this new edition.
