From the guides to Glorantha published by Chaosium, it seems that Orlanth is usually associated whith the region of Dragon Pass, in the center of Genertela. If the guides are correct, why the starting shrine of Storm is placed in Kylerela? I’m sure that Sandy has chosen Kylerela not only for keeping Storm at a safe distance from Earth, but also for reasons related to the lore of Glorantha. As far as I know, Kylerela is the birth place of Eurmal, who is not exactly the best friend of Orlanth. Is there anyone that can help me to solve this mystery?
Dragon Pass has a lot of Storm worshipers at the start of the Third Age, but this is something that happened after the Gods War.
Kylerela is the birth place of Eurmal, yes indeed. Eurmal is in fact a central part of the storm pantheon, and Kylerela existed before Eurmal.
The storm gods, at the start of the Gods War, were in the middle air starting a war against the other gods, and Kylerela is the best place to situation them for that purpose.

According to those pesky god learners who wrote the guide, the island sprang into existence when Kylera fleed from her mother Gata, who didn’t want her to give birth to an incarnation of Trickster. Of course, this is only a theory. Kylerela might predate the birth of Eurmal, and I’d really like to hear another origin story of that land. In the currently marketed map of TGW the island has the shape of a bearded face, while in the new map it is shaped like a smiling(?) hand. What might all these portents mean?
