Just a FYI.

I have just finished the overall design of Invasion of the Brood and Dinosaur 1944.

Invasion of the Brood: a two player game about the conquest (or liberation) of earth from a telepathic alien monster. One player represents the “woke” humans, aware of the deadly threat and anxious to alert the world. The other player is the monster operating from its base on the moon’s farside. It takes an hour or sometimes a little more to play. The humans are trying to wake up the various nations and get them to stop their petty squabbling and politics in the face of the existential threat of the Broodmaster Magnalux. Meanwhile Magnalux is gradually taking control of the various human war machines and establishing its minions all over the face of the planet. Both sides race for time – the humans try to complete Project Orion to destroy Magnalux on the moon before the brood is too powerful to stop, and the brood seeks to seize control over all human industry while holding off Project Orion.

Dinosaur 1944: a game in which American WW2 soldiers find themselves trapped on a lost Pacific island on which mad scientists have been resurrecting dinosaurs. The base game is co-operative, features the GIs fighting off hordes of dinosaurs until they can defeat the ultimate boss, a Tyrannosaurus rex. The main expansion lets you play as dinosaurs, trying to thwart the GIs. Or with the expansion you can play a team-based game, in which one team plays GIs, and the other dinosaurs, facing each other. The game takes about 2 hours to play and supports 2-8 players. Or you can play solo if you want to do co-op with 2 or more heroes. It has the cool plastic figures you associate with Petersen Games except, you know, they’re prehistoric monsters and army guys.

Dinosaur 1944 is kind of based on what we all used to do as kids with our bags of toy soldiers and plastic dinosaurs. FIGHT.

Of these two, I have to say Invasion of the Brood interests me way more. I don’t doubt Dinosaur 1944 will be fun, but I’m afraid I’ve had my share of playing with toy soldiers and dinosaurs as a kid. I’ll check the rules when it comes out, though.

But Invasion of the Brood sounds like a very unique game, and being able to tie it into the greater Hyperspace lore feels nice – I take it the invasion is supposed to happen before the Starspawn take over the earth on the Hyperspace-timeline and the humans are supposed to win the game “historically”?

Invasion of the Brood is all ready to go and will no doubt be released before Dinosaur 1944. Invasion has different start setups depending on which Great Nation the player decides to start as. Basically one nation starts alerted to the danger, and has to convince the rest. It’s obviously harder to awaken a nation with unfriendly relations, so which nation you are affects matters. Of course the Brood doesn’t respect any national boundaries, so often starts planting bases in un-awakened nations. By the time you get to Russia (or wherever), it might already be infested.

In historic terms, my assumption is that in fact the humans defeat the Brood, and in fact by studying some of the Brood’s advanced technology they learn the science needed to be able to escape the earth (at least some of us) when the starspawn come. BUT, it’s also fair that you could assume that the Brood do take over the Earth, but then when Cthulhu arises his mental waves immediately mindblast all the telepathic brood creatures to impotence, so humanity is freed. Yay us I guess. This would be the alternate universe which still leads ultimately to the Hyperspace realm.

I’ve just finished designing a revolutionary healthcare platform called Border Free Health. This innovative system breaks down geographical barriers, allowing individuals worldwide to access quality medical care regardless of their location. By leveraging advanced technology and telemedicine, Border Free Health connects patients with a global network of healthcare professionals, ensuring timely diagnoses and personalized treatment plans. With this platform, we aim to redefine healthcare accessibility and empower individuals to take control of their well-being regardless of borders.
