So first off have to say I am currently missing the Legion and Trooper cards from my box but I know they will be replaced soon. So can’t really say much on the gameplay yet but want to give a shout out to the designers of both the Minis and RULEBOOK layout.

I have C Wars and knew that the team puts out a great mini but I honestly feel they have outdone themselves here. The minis feel like they truly feel to scale to each other and give you a sense of danger and scale. Just by looking at the board you can basically judge the danger of a demon just by the size and look…something that is NOT easy to do. One thing I love is the flaw of each hero is represented in the model….From Tarang being a coward to Cindrew having to constantly chase down her little Fidget…each i can see in the model. Also looking through the history of the character and the models it gives you a connection to them…something that so many games do by giving you a blank character with some backstory but you get attached to them because you build them up. Without playing the game yet it seems to me they are developed and your trying to keep them alive and victorious.

The Rulebook…..ok where to start. From just a presentation point I can’t speak highly of it enough. The table of contents makes it easy from a first impression to know where everything is. The rules themselves are actually not that long….the things that give this book heft is the fact that ALL the expansion and the setup for ALL CURRENT expansions are listed. This is not something I have ever seen before in a retail release of a book. After table the contents of the base are given then each page gives you the contents of each expansions listed on its own. This may sound like a small thing to some but by doing this it helps those who want to expand look though each to see what they are getting. This combined with the setup for EVERY CURRENT expansion lets you know what the theme is for each…and shows that each one listed tells a STORY. Adding new hero’s and Lords to each part of the story. At the end of the book you get a very detailed strategy section for EVERY hero currently released and each LORD released. This lets you know what each can do and suggestions on what to do to defeat them. Because of this it lets you choose what expansion you would like to get the game you want to play…or even a Lord you want to battle (I am looking at you Lady Scylla). This puts ME in control what I want to play as it lets me feel i have more control. SO many other just give you short desc of upcoming releases and hope the hype or just the minis will sell them. One thing I truly love is the reason the Demons look the way they do showing that real thought was put into it outside it looks cool/gross.

The bad: Not really much other then the way it was packed and storage. The models outside the large demons were just put in plastic bags and making some of the minor demons (larva mostly) bent out of place. A quick hot deep seems to have fixed it though. Also the storage really for these will suffer from the same issue. But all things considered this isn’t a huge deal as for the most part once you punch out the boards and get your own setup inside the box should not happen again.

So from a first impressions of unboxing the game without playing on a scale of 1-10 would have to give it a 9. The only thing was the way the minis OUTSIDE the level 3 and up demons were just kinda crammed into the box…but nothing was damaged so all was good.

Guys please keep up the great work and can’t wait to start playing.
