The quality of the keyless maps lack consistency. Some are low-resolution, some have secret door marks still intact. (Looking at the first map in The Big Sleep, act 2. Those red “S”s are hard to hide.)
I also wish for gridless versions. Some maps have distractingly thick grids. I much prefer a key that denotes the grid size—placed somewhere so a VTT’s walls will hide it anyway—and I can assign and fine-tune the in-game grid to it. Otherwise, I have to carefully align the VTT’s with in-art’s grids, which can be tedious.
I know I can turn off the VTT’s grid. But my players and I prefer it, mostly so tokens can snap to it. So we’re back to carefully aligning one grid with another—tedious.
