Call of Cthulhu Terror Paths is a tabletop cooperative experience for several players. All players take on the role of Investigators, who work together as a team. The game comes with two maps, each with wildly different scenarios. Coming in 2022.

Sandy thought you might enjoy a peek at the various scenarios that he designed for Terror Paths, his upcoming cooperative Call of Cthulhu board game. We’re also including his adventure gameplay notes.

Today’s scenario: Expedition …

Scenario: Expedition

You wake up groggy to realize that you are not at home. To your horror, you see you are in an underground cavern, tied to a slab. Humans, faces covered with black masks made of a suspicious leather (one seems to have a human nipple on it), work feverishly on machines.

“You’re awake,” one speaks with an unnameable accent.

“Our drones failed. Now we use YOU to find out why. You are equipped and armed. Discover the problem, fix it if possible, and return and report.”

When you look down at your bodies, you see you have been surgically attached to awful mechanical devices

Sandy’s Gameplay Notes

Now a prisoner of the Ancients from deep beneath the Earth, they are sending you to find out what is going wrong in the caverns. You must not only unlock the secret and solve it, but find a way to rid yourself of the slave harnesses you’ve been outfitted with.

Ultimately, you discover the Great Old One which is infesting the cavern’s nooks and crannies and must extirpate it throughout.

“This is a seminar I gave in early May about creating a horror adventure for Call of Cthulhu or, I suppose, any other horror roleplaying game.

Sorry about the sound quality  we were focused on getting the message across rather than the taping.

Hope it doesn’t ruin it for you.”    Sandy

Scenario: From the Pit to the Stars

You arrive in the lodge parking lot for a meeting, when some crazy-eyed Lodge members brandish weapons and shriek about “Power from the Stars”. You resist, but a hideous ratbatspider drops from the sky into the parking lot.

You try to fight it. First, its Acid damages you and then, its Anti Matter Armor hurts you when you try to hit it.

Any wounds you deal to it shortly heal from its ability to Regenerate. In despair, you surrender, though now you are wounded in your futile fight. Your Items are taken away and dropped in the basement guard room.

Sandy’s Gameplay Notes
Taken captive by alien monsters, you must battle your way through extraterrestrial technology and horrors to find the huge and loathsome creature which is opening a portal to the stars.

The greatest threat might be the mind control that the enemies’ telepathy exerts over the lodge.
