May I am waiting eagerly for Hyperspace too. Aquatic species always struck me as particularly unlikely to make it into space. You can compress air, but not water, plus water weighs a lot, so your first forays into outer space would be tough. Not impossible, of course. I have always loved abyssal creatures. And though I do have a fungus alien, the idea of an actual plant has a lot of merit.
