New Monster from SPCM Pathfinder 2e: Worm of Ghroth

New Monster from SPCM Pathfinder 2e: Worm of Ghroth

Check out the Worm of Ghroth, a new monster from Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder 2nd Edition.

The worms of Ghroth are created by Ghroth’s influence, lingering behind when it departs to consume the reality Ghroth passes near. Worse, the worms of Ghroth can be summoned or gated from another world to one’s own, though the only reasons to do so would be hubris or nihilism.

The worms vary in size but are usually Huge. The worms’ fundamental feature is that they devour the very existence and fabric of reality. The ravenous creatures use their mandibles, seething with apparently-rotating teeth, to feast endlessly on all before them. They have an almost reptilian skin texture and float in the non-existence that surrounds them. They have no obvious means of propulsion, so their locomotion is mysterious.

New Spellbook Featured in Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder 2nd Edition

Check out the Cultes des Goules, a new spellbook from Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder 2nd Edition.

Written by the Comte d’Erlette several centuries ago, this work has two main thrusts. In the first part, it discusses the structure and beliefs of cults that worship the Great Old Ones and the Outer Gods, though in a rather general way.

In the second, it is a tome of the deadliest black magic: a grimoire that contains all necessary information for performing a wide variety of rituals and magic effects. Its greatest weakness is that it has few dismissal or protective effects; rather, it focuses on loosing dangerous creatures upon an enemy and spells that harm others.

Learn about Lovecraft’s Brown Jenkin

Who is Brown Jenkin anyway? Brown Jenkin appears in Lovecraft’s story Dreams in the Witch House, and it is an extremely unusual entity. It is an old fashioned type of horror – a small rat-like monster with humanoid face and paws.

More like the image of a medieval witch’s familiar than a tentacled Lovecraftian thingy! See if you can find him on the cover of this new edition of Sandy Petersen’s Cthulhu Mythos for 5e Fantasy!

Here are some of the more memorable quotes from Dreams in the Witch House describing this miniature monster:

“…the descriptions of the darting little furry object which served as her familiar were so painfully realistic despite their incredible details.”

“That object—no larger than a good-sized rat and quaintly called by the townspeople “Brown Jenkin”—seemed to have been the fruit of a remarkable case of sympathetic herd-delusion…”

“Witnesses said it had long hair and the shape of a rat, but that its sharp-toothed, bearded face was evilly human while its paws were like tiny human hands.”
