Evil High Priest

The Game of Cult Leadership

You are an ambitious priest in a sinister cult, but your Great Old One lies dormant, locked under the awful power of the dread Elder Signs. He depends on your to free him from this half-existence! You must break your insane henchmen out of the asylums where they are locked up, gather spellbooks and other resources, summon fiendish monsters, conduct dark rituals, and protect yourself against the forces of normal society. If you succeed, your Great Old One will reward you with the title of High Priest, second only to him in the coming cataclysm! But you have rivals, other (obviously inferior) priests in your cult, who seek to claim the prize that is rightfully yours! You must thwart them, while carrying out your plans. Only one can seize the precious title of High Priest – and it must be YOU!

Great Old Ones

Evil High Priest and its expansions has many different great old ones for you and your rivals to worship. Cthulhu, Shub-niggurath, Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, Hastur, Ubbo-Sathla, Ithaqua, The Watcher, Tsathoggua, and the Ancients. Depending on which cult you choose, there are many differences in how the game will play out. If you’re playing on the Cthulhu cult board there are deep ones that reward you with cash and blood for helping release Cthulhu! Playing on the Yog-Sothoth cult board many of your cultists are turned into mutants and mutate to eventually become horrifying spawn of Yog-Sothoth. Or perhaps you would like to play on the Hastur map where all of the spots are rituals that extend and can be 5 turns long! There is a lot of variety and re-playability with who and how you worship your chosen Great Old One.

WRITTEN REVIEW

“EHP is a unique worker placement game. It is very easy to teach, especially to those who have played worker placement games in the past…What differentiates EHP from the rest of the pack is its combination of collecting and protecting resources along with the raid mechanism.”

WRITTEN REVIEW

“Overall, I think Evil High Priest is a fun game despite some quibbles about the components. If you like Lovecraftian themes and worker placement games, you might enjoy adding this treasure to your own sanctum… er, game shelf.”

    Resource Management

Evil High Priest differs from other worker placement games for several reasons. The cult board getting switched out generates new locations and elder sign paths that can be opened in different iterations. The resources you’re spending to destroy elder signs are Victory points at the end of the game! So, do you really want to spend your spellbook and 2 magic to gain an elder sign? That’s only a 1 point increase in victory points! However, it’s much easier to store and protect 1 elder sign than 3 other resources. Also, shattering that elder sign might have triggered an attack that can destroy your opponent’s victory points as you catch him unawares!

    The Blood Ceremony

This is an expansion for the Evil High Priest game of cult supremacy. It includes four new cult boards – those of the Tcho-Tchos, Sleeper, Opener of the Way, and the Crawing Chaos. It also contains unique monster cards, investigator cards, and priest cards.
