Meet the Team
Sandy got his start in the game industry at Chaosium in 1980, working on tabletop roleplaying games. His best-known work from that time is the cult game Call of Cthulhu, which has been translated into many languages and is still played worldwide. He also worked on many other published projects such as Runequest, Stormbringer, Elfquest, and even the Ghostbusters RPG. He was instrumental in the creation of dozens of scenario packs and expansions for these projects. In addition, Sandy acted as developer on the original Arkham Horror board game. He is still on Chaosium’s Board of Directors.
In 1988, he left paper games for the computer game world. Since then he worked for Microprose, id Software, and Ensemble Studios, where he helped build Civilization, Doom, Quake, Halo Wars, and the Age of Empire series, among others.
He was an instructor at the Guildhall at Southern Methodist University from 2009-2011, where he taught game design to Master’s degree candidates and helped develop the curriculum. During this time he produced about 30 team games.
In 2013 he founded Petersen Games, which has released a series of highly successful boardgame projects including Theomachy, Orcs Must Die! the boardgame, and the much-admired Cthulhu Wars.
His games have sold tens of millions of copies worldwide and he has received dozens of awards from the game industry. The awards he is most proud of are his Howie award from the Lovecraft community and his Gaming Hall of Fame plaque chosen by vote of the fan community.
He still loves and plays games. He has five children, eleven grandchildren, and two mongrel dogs as of 2018.
Lincoln Petersen is the second game designer for Petersen Games. He often has fits trying to drag out playtesting of our board games for far longer than is probably necessary to find if every interaction in the game is how he wants it. He loves long walks on Yuggoth in the blistering emerald shine of the green pyramid and getting his brain canister polished at the laboratory.
Arthur is the project director and resident heavy metal listener. Also, if you find a small ring on the glacier of Mount Timpanogos, that’s his lost wedding ring. Perhaps the Wendigo in the snow have taken it by now. If not, his wife would like for him to have it back. Also, he’s the elder, handsomer brother of Lincoln.
Christine Graham is our Business Manager. She oversees the company’s finances, looks after training and evaluating staff, develops marketing activities, and assists with conventions. Her background includes event management, content writing, manufacturing, and project management. She loves the excitement and fun that comes from creating products that make people happy!
Kent Hamilton is the Concept Artist and Illustrator for Petersen Games. He works from the Petersen Games PNW branch with a staff of Sasquatch art interns. A graduate of Art Center College of Design in Entertainment Design, Kent loves working on projects where he gets to design all kinds of monsters and aliens. His favorite Petersen Games character is the Daldath from Hyperspace.
Tony has been an avid gamer since his parents first got him a copy of Hero Quest back in 1990. Since then, he has migrated from playing RPGs like DnD and Call of Cthulhu to weekly board game sessions. As the resident Graphic Designer for Petersen Games, he earned his BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000. Following that, he has spent time working as a designer and manager in the advertising, publishing, and the ecommerce industries. When not doing layouts and graphics for Petersen Games, he spends most of his time making sanity checks to try and keep the Great Cthulhu at bay.
George Botelho is the Sales and Customer Support Manager at Petersen Games and has been playing tabletop games his entire life. After discovering DnD 3.5, he moved on to Call of Cthulhu, and runs a weekly gaming group. He served 4 years in the Marine Corps as a military police officer and is currently pursuing a Secondary Education/English degree. When not responding to customer support inquiries, George spends his time avoiding corners that are 120 degrees or less.
Christy is the Shipping Manager for Petersen Games. This is a detailed position working with our many warehouses. Her background is Project Management. She is new to the gaming world and is fascinated with all the different characters and games we have introduced her to. She is happily married and a mother to one intelligent and beautiful daughter. Christy enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Pit Lanrezac is our Voice of the Community. His job is to make our customers happy, mostly by suggesting crazy Kickstarter schemes and impossible products to design. Since he is absolutely not constrained by such mundane things such as reality or cost, he is often capable of innovative thinking (he is also very annoying, because he is French, we suspect). We’re not sure what his exact skills are but at least if something is bothering our fans, he’ll tell us.
